    Grammar and vocabulary
    1. Could / was, were able to
    Eg : When she was young she could play the violin well.
    Eg: Although she was tired last night, she was able to finish her homework.
    When she was young she was able to play the violin well
    Eg: She was tired last night, so she couldn’t / wasn’t able to finish her homework.
    * We use both “could” and “was, were able to” to express one’s general ability in the past.
    * We use “was, were able to” to express one’s ability gained by making effort.
    * Couldn’t = wasn’t, weren’t able to
